Ken Mahoney         

An accomplished financial advisor, author, and speaker, Ken brings over 22 years of professional experience to residents of the New York City metropolitan area.  

 

He is the owner of Mahoney Asset Management.  Ken's opinions on the world of finance have been published nationally. He sat on the Advisory Board of the House of Representatives Banking and Finance Committee, has taught finance at Dominican College, and won 2001’s annual “Stock Picking” contest held by Gannett Newspapers. He is a frequent guest speaker at business associations, corporations, senior groups, and other organizations throughout the region.  Prior to founding Mahoney Asset Management, Ken was Senior Vice President and an Investment Officer with a major brokerage firm.

 

His expertise has not gone unnoticed by the periodicals either.  Ken's market comments and perspectives are published in the Hudson Valley Business Weekly.  His financial opinions have been published by USA Today, as well as by various local publications.  He is a familiar quoted figure in the business pages of The Journal News and was a respected member of the newspaper’s Business Leaders Roundtable. Ken hosted WRKL Radio’s Smart Investor show from 1992 to 1998, and co-hosted Financial Mobility on WRKL and TKR  He also hosted Invest in You Community in the early 1990s.  Since 1992, Ken has published the financial newsletter, The Smart Investor.  

 

As a respected leader in the community, Ken has chaired United Way special events and is currently the Co-Chair of the Business Council of the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Hudson Valley.   He was Chair of the Board for Make-a-Wish, sat on the foundation’s Finance Committee, and served as Treasurer of the Executive Committee.  His efforts as co-chairperson of the foundation’s gala events helped raise substantial funds to further the organization’s goals.  Ken and his wife have been honored at past Galas.


            He is now on the Board of Richmond Community Services, on which he works to  support people and their families with developmental disabilities.  He is also the Co-Chair of the Business Council of the Make-A-Wish foundation, for which the goal is to raise funds to support the mission of granting wishes to children. 

 

Ken also served for seven years as a member of the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels and has been involved in the agency’s golf and tennis challenge.  Meals on Wheels honored Ken as Rockland’s Community Leader of the Year in 2002.  

 

He has earned distinguished service awards from the NY State Legislation, County of Rockland, and NY State Assembly for his work with charities.     Ken Mahoney is the creator of the Westchester Stock Index and the Rockland Stock Index, both of which have appeared in a number of newspapers.  The indexes are composed of local companies and are compared to national indexes. 

 

Building on his financial background, Ken became co-publisher of The Rockland Business Digest in the spring of 2006.  The Digest is the official magazine of the Rockland Business Association and is sent to every business in Rockland.  Ken is also the author of Investing From Within: A Story of Understanding, which offers investment advice to various personality types.  He also launched a series entitled The Zoo Exchange: Teaching Our Kids About Money, which teaches children about finance principles.

He now gives a market report every morning on WRCR 1300 am at 9:15  www.wrcr.com and WTBQ 1110 am and 99.1 fm at 7:30 , as well as WHUD 100.7 FM www.whud.com.

 

Ken is a Two Time Nominated Tony Award Producer, with Broadway hit's Gershwin's Porgy and Bess (Best Revival of a Musical), and The Best Man (Best Revival of a Play). Ken shows in the 2011-2012 received a total of 14 Tony nominations.
 
Gershwin's Porgy and Bess stars 4-time Tony Award Winner, Audra McDonald, and Norm Lewis. The show is critically acclaimed and announced a National Tour.
 
The Best Man has Broadway Legends in the cast, including James Earl Jones, Angela Lansbury, John Larroquette, Candice Bergen, and Will McCormack.
 
Ken is also the Executive Producer of the Cast Album's, of 'How to Succeed in Business' with Nick Jonas, and 'Nice Work if you can get ' with Mathew Broderick. Nice Work was nominated for 10 Tony's and features the music of George Gershwin.
 
In the 2011-2012 Season, Ken's shows had 14 Drama Desk Nominations, and 10 Outer Critics Circle nominations.
 
Ken has been married for 18 years to his wife, Trish, and has two sons, Brendon and Connor, for whom he coaches baseball and soccer.
